The California College of the Arts held their graduation fashion show on Friday night before a packed crowd under a tent erected just outside the school’s doors in San Francisco’s Potrero Hill neighborhood. Ten bachelor of fine arts graduates showed collections, and a handful of students showed one-off pieces generated out of a class combining fashion and industrial design. Surface magazine awarded Patricia Lucia Arroyo and Johnny Paul Vera emerging designer scholarships. I got a sneak peek behind the scenes with the models and make-up artists backstage, and nabbed a front-row seat to check out the students’ hard work. Predictably, my favorite look of the evening was Marcela Lucia Cole’s boho-glam one-shouldered knit poncho paired with a red leather (I think?) strapless dress. I also loved Jacky Safer’s flowy dresses and tops with their “cracked” print fabric. Several CCA grads are already on their way to illustrious careers, so check out our giant gallery below for your own front row glimpse at future fashion rock stars!
