Last night I went to a party at Carrots, which is not only located in one of the most charming neighborhoods in San Francisco (Jackson Square) but has arguably the best selection of designer clothing in the city. Margiela, Rick Owens, Alexander Wang, S. Sung, Superfine, you name it. I hope I didn’t get drool on anything.
We were celebrating the mega-talented Dean Hutchinson. I interviewed him back in 2008 and included him in my very first post on Refinery 29 http://www.refinery29.com/on-location-despite-the-recess! So I was super excited to see him last night and chat him up about his collaboration with Yunchieh Chang, a designer he met in San Francisco when she was still a student at Academy of Art. Chang went on to work for Yigal Azrouel, but she and Hutchinson had a connection that recently brought them back together to create A’bout.
Dean moved from San Francisco to Toronto in 2009, but maintains a connection with the city by the bay by collaborating with the fabulous Carrots sisters (see them in the gallery below!). Stay tuned for my full interview with the designer; in the meantime I hope you enjoy these photos of the stunning Carrots shop and the fabulous party peeps who showed up last night!
