I know it’s New York fashion week and all. But this morning we’re going to talk about my mom’s delicious potato salad—a carb and calorie-laden dish that perhaps not many fashion-week attendees would actually eat. But I would! She made it in the summer for picnics and special occasions when I was growing up in Pennsylvania, and I miss it intensely. So in honor of Labor Day this past weekend, I’ve created an outfit reminiscent of my dear mother’s potato salad. Can’t you just taste the yumminess? And how cute would we all be in this outfit at end-of-summer parties?

Red converse high tops, $45; Diane von Furstenberg bow-embellished stretch-silk blouse, $285; M Missoni wide-leg cotton-blend twill pants, $117; Christys’ Hats lemon straw boater, $110, this one is similar and cheaper for $36, Zariin ‘The Spirited One’ earrings, $110; Maison Martin Margiela dirty white clutch, $1,095.
