I will confess to you right here and now that I love candy corn. It’s a somewhat disgusting “food,” indeed. Nevertheless, I look forward to Halloween in large part because it gives me an excuse to eat this yellow, orange and white treat, the white part being the smallest but best part (who’s with me?). That’s why I made the white contribution to this outfit the most important: the tuxedo jacket. It has so much potential as a winter wardrobe centerpiece. Throw it over the shoulders cape-like with a dress, wear it with jeans for a perfectly undone-done date ensemble, or with an orange skirt! Which brings me back to my candy corn outfit. These colors are a little nuts, yes, but for your upcoming work and family functions, wouldn’t this be so much fun to wear? Be festive with some unexpected colors for a change from the expected red, black, sparkly, etc. The skirt is wool, which prevents the look from being too summery. The nude fishnet tights are the perfect touch for some subtle texture, and even a nod to Halloween, without adding more crazy color. I chose these Dannijo earrings because in this context don’t they look a little creepy and spidery? And the boots, well, they are just perfection in any context.
Rag & Bone tuxedo jacket, $574; Acne Joyce silk shirt, $400; Dion Lee twist front wool crepe pencil skirt, $995; Nude fishnets here or here; Reed Krakoff gray suede ankle boots, $254; Dannijo Cecile earrings, $297; candy corn, $3 update! Jelly Belly candy corn contains no gelatin, which many brands use and is not vegetarian just fyi (Thanks David Allan!).
