As I mentioned on Instagram, I bought this skirt in 2010 in Nashville at supermodel Karen Elson’s vintage store Mars & Venus, which sadly is now closed. I love this skirt though, partly because it brings back really fun memories from a trip there with my BFF. It was my her 40th birthday, and a trip to Nashville is how she wanted to celebrate. Tennessee was not at the top of my list of places to visit, but it was HER birthday.
Little did I know what a blast it would be! Nashville has amazing shopping, music and food, and everything is much less expensive than San Francisco or New York (where we live now).
The trip culminated with an impromptu visit to a firehouse located near the apartment we had rented out. I happened to be wearing the skirt I had just purchased, and the fireman on duty offered to let me slide down the pole. Obviously that was a YES. I think I made him nervous and possibly regret his decision, by the looks of his arms-out, please don’t break anything posture. But my dismount is rather chic, don’t you think?
