Baby Update: No Photos Plz and the Circle of Life

August 15, 2012 by Kristen Philipkoski Filed Under: Events, Featured Posts 7 Comments

Adoption Day

I wrote a few weeks ago about how excited my husband and I were to become foster parents, and promptly posted photos of her adorable face all over our various social media accounts. We found out shortly after that it’s not O.K. to post images of foster children on the Internet. Which on the one hand really sucks, because this baby is extremely cute. On the other hand, keeping a foster kid’s identity confidential makes a whole lot of sense. So we took down all our photos on Facebook and Twitter, and I removed my initial post, which I’ve now reposted sans photo.

Anyway, I didn’t want you guys to think anything bad or sad had happened so consider yourself updated. Frida is doing great, her cheeks and belly are ever-expanding, and our sleep deprivation is profound. It’s a big old love-in over here that unfortunately I cannot share with you visually. Instead, here is a photo (no retro filters necessary!) of my mom holding me when I was three months old on the day she took me home from a foster home. Crazy how life comes full circule isn’t it? Also, have you ever seen a fatter baby?

Hey, Sister!

I'm a feminist, former science writer, reformed shopaholic, caftan-lover and 40-something mom to a toddler and a teenager. You'll usually find me wearing '70s clothes at my '70s house near the beach in Northern California. Stylenik is where I share lessons learned regarding all of the above. My friends call me KP. Thanks so much for visiting!
