The designers behind Anndra Neen (their main site launches in February) are sisters and the granddaughters of Annette Nancarrow (also coming soon), who designed jewelry for Frida Kahlo, who is naturally one of our heroes.
Nancarrow was also a renowned artist and sculptor. The sisters, Phoebe and Annette Stephens, were born and raised in Mexico City and moved to the U.S. for college. Their grandfather was well-known avant-garde composer Conlon Nancarrow, who is best known for writing pieces for the player piano. They decided to start Anndra Neen during a trip to Japan. The results leave us breathless — in particular the cuffs. One on each wrist would fulfill our Wonder Woman fantasies. We got a close-up look at Anndra Neen’s spring line in September at the Harper’s Bazaar accessories bazaar, which included clutches similar to the one Michelle Obama carried at a 4th of July show in 2010.
P.S. Annette has a Rubik’s cube tattoo, check it out here.
