The San Francisco Bay Area’s own Taylor Sterling of SterlingStyle is parlaying her style blogger popularity into a fashion and lifestyle site that will cover all thing girly and sparkly. The Glitter Guide launches on Tuesday, and I’m excited to see a blogger like Ms. Sterling move beyond outfit posts to what promises to be engaging editorial content. Despite her deadline crunch, Sterling was willing to answer a few of my nosy questions about her new endeavor.
Stylenik: What gave you the idea/inspiration for The Glitter Guide?
Taylor Sterling: A year ago I started thinking about my future and what kind of career I wanted. I knew I wanted to share inspirations and ideas with women and that I wanted my site to be fun, feminine, and glittery. It just kind of evolved from there.
Sn:Can you give us any details about what the site will be like? How many times per day will you publish new articles? Will it be mostly fashion, or will there be a pretty even distribution of articles in the various sections?
TS: The site is a lifestyle magazine but in a blog format. At this point we plan to post about twice a day. We want to start off slow and get a feel for things. We will have a lot of fashion on the site but a lot of lifestyle tidbits too (like entertaining, home design, and health/fitness).
Sn: Did you get an investment to start Glitter Guide or are you doing this on your own? And do you have other editors who are involved?
TS: I don’t have any investors. I want to be in control of the growth and development of the brand. I do have a lot of help from editorial contributors, photographers, and friends in the blogging community.
