As I’ve mentioned, I don’t usually wear a lot of makeup. I like a natural look and I don’t have the time or patience to do much more. But who can look away when faced with one of these amazing makeup tutorial videos? This one made me think maybe I should rethink my minimal approach. I mean, I definitely won’t do this every day in this lifetime. But for photos or events, I kind of love how much it transforms her face without looking really makeup-y—despite the fact that the look is supposed to emulate Kim Kardashian. You can skip the last step completely (stop at 4:16) if you’re not interested in hyper-defined cheekbones.

I also had my makeup done by a professional recently for a video for Glam.com, and while she seemed to apply quite a bit of makeup, including contouring and highlighter it looked totally natural. I went to a dinner that evening, check out this photo from the event above. Would you even guess I was wearing makeup? I am. A lot.
Here’s another video that uses way less makeup, just blush and highlighter, which makes it more doable for every day. But she has a good tip for folks like me who “have a lot of fine lines” around the eyes: be careful of products with shimmer, because those tiny pieces of glitter can get stuck in your cracks and crevasses and it won’t look cute. The products in the first video, which are listed on the YouTube page, are probably better choices. Here they are for your reference, I’ll definitely be checking out a few of these:
