One of the highlights for us was seeing the gorgeous and ever-so-French Malandrino in the flesh. She graciously greeted guests at her Spring/Summer 2011 presentation, which was held around a reflecting pool at Lincoln Center on Sunday. Her je ne sais quoi was plapable, and she was as tall and lithe as her models.
The presentation itself was also lovely, with models wearing drapey, flowy dresses and separates as they stood on small podiums surrounding the reflecting pool. Some wore macrame stilettos, while the lucky ones wore ethnic-inspired flats — check out the particularly elaborate mid-thigh macrame sandal. Luckily the rain held off but it got surprisingly chilly, and some of the models were visibly shivering after standing still for an hour; we wanted to bring them blankets.
Our favorite piece was the floor-length crocheted cream-colored gown — and we’re definitely sensing a crochet trend for Spring 2011. Here are all our favorites from the presentation.
