This week has been a pathetic posting week! The reason is a combination of working and playing too hard. I went to Outside Lands last weekend, which seems like about five minutes ago, and I’ve had my lovely friend Robyn in town all week, which has been a pleasure in the form of much laughing and overindulgence in the food and drink categories. I also started a new gig writing about science for Gizmodo, which has also been a pleasure, but in a crazy, intense, learning a new thing way. So the result is very little Stylenik posting. But I vow to make up for it next week!
In the meantime I wanted to share with you guys this outfit I wore to Outside Lands, because it really did get close to outfit nirvana. It was super comfortable (everything was loose fitting, boots were flat), warm (long sleeves, and I’m actually wearing two dresses: one kind of thick cotton and one a sheer gauze-y cotton), and a small, cross body bag. We sat on the poncho earlier in the day while waiting for The Decemberists to play, then I wore it later when it got chilly for Arcade Fire. And the necklaces! The longer one is from Dannijo and was on sale at Shopbop, and the shorter one is vintage and an incredibly thoughtful gift from Robyn. I don’t really have any complaints — a rare occurrence when it comes to my sartorial situation — either the shoes hurt or I’m hot or cold or something. I’m not totally psyched about my pose — that am I grabbing there? I promise there was something there, I’m not just randomly gesturing. Anyway, I also finally got some darn contact lenses, so I could see the stages clearly for once in my life! All in all it was a fantastic day and night.
