I feel like Darth Vader in that really terrible scene in that one Star Wars prequel. Metier in Union Square, purveyor of amazingness that knows no bounds, is closing on July 21. San Franciscans love love love this place because it’s one of the few boutiques in the city where you can buy Vanessa Bruno, Zero + Maria Cornejo, Raquel Allegra (a fave of mine), and Equipment shirts (all in the same store no less). And the folks who run the place have a reputation for being just lovely. This is really sad you guys. The shop has been going strong for 21 years, and Sheri, the owner, wrote a heartfelt blog post announcing the news. She says she’ll be launching some new ventures in 2013, and I can’t wait to hear what they’ll be.
O.K. I’m going to admit something to you now, and for me personally this might be the saddest/most shameful part of all: I’VE NEVER BEEN!! I’ve discussed this with Mira several times, and she told me I really should get my butt over there. Well, now I will FO SHIZZ. And of course there is a thin silver lining: bigtime markdowns. They want to sell all of their merchandise by July 21, so you’re sure to find some amazing scores from Rag & Bone, Alexander Wang, Lizzie Fortunato jewelry, SIGH the list goes on.
