Outside Lands is coming up this weekend, bitches! Oops, sorry. I don’t know why every time I exclaim about Outside Lands I feel the need to punctuate with: Bitches! Sorry again. Anyway, I am extremely excited about the music fest! Arcade Fire, The Shins, Erykah Badu, Charles Bradley, The Black Keys, The Roots, MGMT (whew!) are a few of the acts I’m most excited about. And of course I’ve been planning my outfit since last week. Also, my dearest friend Robyn is flying in from Miami, where obviously it’s sweltering. I don’t want her to freeze here in chilly San Francisco, so I thought I’d give her some ideas for looking hot (which of course she always does) and keeping warm. And a note to all you folks traveling to SF for the fest? IT’S COLD HERE! Do not expect to dress like you would for Coachella or you will be very sad indeed.
You might notice I’m channeling Bob Dylan, my love, a little bit here. Like Andrea Linnett (co-founder of Lucky magazine, now creative director at eBay), I think we should always ask WWBDD (What would Bob Dylan do)? And yes ladies and gentlemen, that is a backpack. We need our hands free for the out of control food and wine offerings! And you’ll want a super comfy pair of jeans for lots of standing up, sitting down and running around to the various stages — you’ll want a low heel or flat for that purpose as well. Heels are not fun in the grass. Lastly, do not forget your blanket! Even if it gets too crazy to stake your claim on a patch of grass, when that fog rolls in, you’ll be psyched to curl up in it.
